Threads Reaches User Milestone

When Meta launched Threads, its new text-based social app, the goal couldn’t possibly be clearer: to tempt users from the renamed ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).

Of course, Threads had more on its side than just Twitter’s struggles: it could leverage Meta’s robust infrastructure to offer a seamless user experience, with both Facebook and Instagram users able to log in through their existing accounts on either platform.

This ease certainly played a part in the initial rush, with an estimated 100 million profiles created within days of its initial release. A year since its launch, Threads has reached a staggering milestone of 175 million active users. It’s clear that Threads is here to stay, making it one to consider if you’re looking to grow your reach on social media.

Growing your business on Threads

Follow our tips to make a splash on Threads and generate results for your business.

Step 1: Claim your company profile

Before you can tap into the potential Threads offers, you’ll need to create an account. This is quick and easy to do, as you can use your current company Facebook or Instagram credentials. Even if you’re still on the fence about adding Threads to your social footprint, it’s advisable to claim your company name on the platform before anybody else does to protect your brand online.

Step 2: Consider your post content

Threads can be up to 500 characters long, and may include links, photos, and videos under five minutes long. Threads posts can be easily shared on your Instagram account or Facebook page, too.

  • Give advice which is relevant to your company: with short, straight to the point posts, should come short, straight to the point advice. If you’re running a mobile repair business, for example, you’ll want to share advice on how to prolong a mobile phone’s battery life. Useful tips and hacks are highly shareable which can grow your reach and profile.
  • Threads is a community-centric platform where you can exchange experiences, advice, and the occasional joke. Creating and cultivating a personal connection with users – and potential clients – is key to growing any brand or company. Pay attention to what your audience reacts to, the questions they ask and the type of content they interact with.

  • Post exclusive content to provide your followers with an incentive to follow you. Your followers on Threads may be seeking different things from your followers on Instagram; it is up to you to learn to know them, and tailor all content accordingly.

Step 3: Create a post schedule

Create a post schedule so your posts go out consistently. The more consistent and more prolific your posting, the better your results will be. Keep in mind that experimentation matters. Not all social media users visit each social network at the same time of day. To find the sweet spot for maximum engagement, you’ll need to vary your times and days of posting and then study the impact. A tool like Hootsuite can make this easier.

Step 4: Be responsive

As with any social presence, you’ll need to maintain the ‘social’ element. Be responsive to questions, comments and any messages you may receive. This creates a more engaged community, which can grow your reach and give you better results from your social activity.
